Scream website

A screenshot of the Scream website, which provides updated information about flavors and locations, as well as new photos each week.

The Scream website serves to provide current flavor & location information for this new farmers' market business, and also reinforces the Scream brand. In addition to the site design, coding, and photographing, I also write most of the copy.

Ringo product page

I’m currently creating a website for Ringo, an easy-to-use tones organizer for various mobile handsets developed by Electric Pocket. Here’s a product page that’s a few revisions and some content away from being done. As with the FlipSide site below, the site design mimics the mobile application interface that I designed.

FlipSide product website

FlipSide is a slick MP3 Player for BlackBerry, developed by Electric Pocket. I designed all graphics on the site (including the logo), and worked with the client to write and edit the copy. I worked with the developer to write all the code - he did the PHP, and I did the HTML and CSS. As with Ringo, the site mimics the look of the application, and has aided many visitors in downloading the trial and then purchasing the software.

MyVox widget & website:

A collage of screenshots from the MyVox website, as well as proposed and final widget designs

The MyVox widget was a proof-of-concept consumer product for VoodooVox, Inc, to show investors that users of MySpace and similar sites would be interested in a free interactive audio widget that caused users to go back and forth between web and phone. Working with several developers, I designed the interfaces, graphics, and HTML/CSS for this site.

Because MyVox was the third iteration of VoodooVox's widget, there were some unique challenges: how do we simplify the signup process, while handling the conversion of old users into users of the new widget? I enjoyed these usability challenges, and my solutions satisfied my client.

Logos

Scream logo

The letters of the Scream logo sit atop puddles of melted sorbet

Scream is a new San Francisco Bay Area company that makes delicious sorbets from local, organic produce and then serves them at farmers’ markets. I worked closely with the company’s founders to ensure that the logo both conveys the high quality and strong flavors of their product, while still being friendly and having “kid appeal”.

FlipSide logo

FlipSide logo, with a vinyl record in between the words

FlipSide is a slick MP3 player for the BlackBerry, and needed a logo that would look nice on the small screen and the big, and on both black and white. It also needed a clear but small application icon that changed slightly with selection, and that contrasted with BlackBerry's yellow highlight circle. The application is on the market right now, and is enjoying success.

Ringo branding update

Updated Ringo Branding

Ringo is a Ringtones application for Palm, BlackBerry, and other handhelds. It needed an updated look, and this logo evolved out of my redesign for the application.

Marketing & Visual Identity

Scream’s visual identity

Bright & friendly printed materials for Scream

I’ve created a complete identity for Scream: flavor & price lists, banner, business cards, and even compost bin signage.

FlipSide ads

A vertically oriented banner ad for FlipSide, showing album covers swooshing by, on the screen of a Blackberry A horizontally oriented banner ad for FlipSide, showing album covers swooshing by, on the screen of a Blackberry

These ads immediately boosted my client’s sales, by effectively conveying FlipSide’s coolest UI feature: the way it swooshes through album covers.

John Melesky’s business card

A sophisticated typographical treatment seemed appropriate for John, who's an intuitive problem-solver

John Melesky is an excellent developer who wants to only take on deeply challenging tasks. A typographic treatment in a classic face reflects John’s competence and integrity.

FlipSide application icons

Icons for FlipSide that illustrate concepts like 'play', 'shuffle', 'search', and more

FlipSide uses icons to communicate feedback to user input: when the user clicks a track, the play icon appears and then fades out. I used standard iconography, but created each icon pixel by pixel for a polished, consistent look. I created different versions for both the Blackberry app (currently on sale) and the Windows Mobile app (under development); each had different color and transparency requirements.

Ringo User Interface redesign

The initial facelift I gave the Ringo application - before & after. This was the first work I did for Electric Pocket, the company who develops both FlipSide & Ringo.

The client felt that the application interface needed updating, so I improved the usability, freshened up the design, and made the logo more beautiful.
