Stage Fright

I’m at An Event Apart in Boston right now, feeling inspired and somewhat exasperated — I’m inspired by seeing fantastic speakers talk about some things they’ve discovered or learned, and am exasperated by my lack of progress in getting up on the stage myself.

What keeps me from the stage? It’s the same thing that kept me from management for years, which is this internal voice saying “I can’t possibly do that“. Well, I’m vowing now to work towards speaking on stage — because I believe I can do it, and also because we need more women speaking at these conferences.
